Tom Hurdelbrink, President & CEO of Northwest MLS, Named Shuttleworth MLS Executive of the Year

New Orleans, LA, October 4, 2023 — The Council of Multiple Listing Services (CMLS) named Tom Hurdelbrink, President and CEO of Northwest Multiple Listing Service (NWMLS), the ninth recipient of the Shuttleworth MLS Executive of the Year Award during the CMLS conference (CMLS2023) on October 4th. Brad Bjelke, CEO of UtahRealEstate.com and past recipient of the Shuttleworth Award made the announcement to more than 1,000 attendees at the event, which brings together executives and leadership of multiple listing services throughout North America.

“Tom embodies the spirit of the what if mindset. He asks the right questions and pushes boundaries allowing for thoughtful discussion and healthy debate. He has led the way over the course of his career, challenging the status quo to push for innovation,” said Denée Evans, CEO of CMLS.

Since 2008, Hurdelbrink has led NWMLS through significant transformation and growth, including the expansion of its membership and service area including three mergers, the adoption of numerous innovative product and service offerings, the launch of two mobile app programs, the conversion to a new MLS search system, upgrade of the public records data system, and more.

“Tom's preparation, attention to detail, communication skills, and industry vision have kept Northwest MLS running smoothly and efficiently, even during trying times like the Great Recession and the COVID-19 pandemic.  He has enabled tools and systems that have led to greater efficiency and productivity for NWMLS brokers in serving home buyers and sellers in the Pacific Northwest,” said Jeff Pust, NWMLS board chairperson and owner/principal broker with Van Dorm Realty, Inc.

Hurdelbrink has served and participated in various real estate boards and groups including CMLS, MLS Grid, MRED Board of Directors, COVE, RESO, Washington Society of Association Executives, and the American Society of Association Executives.

Hurdelbrink was selected for the Shuttleworth MLS Executive of the Year award for his thoughtful, collaborative, and visionary leadership style. His successes in implementing systems and data advancements have helped strengthen our industry and power the professionals to better serve consumers.

The Shuttleworth MLS Executive of the Year Award is an annual award that recognizes leaders who have exhibited the highest qualities of leadership within their organizations and demonstrated a dedication to excellence in building a better marketplace.

The award itself is named after Peter Shuttleworth, former executive vice president of Metro MLS and the first CMLS Hall of Fame inductee.
